Storm in a Tea Cup by John Lumbus and Laikingland

Storm in a Tea Cup (The New English) is a limited edition created by designer John Lumbus and produced by Laikingland and The New English.

"The Storm in a Tea Cup pays homage, in a very literal sense, to the famous idiom meaning a small event that has been exaggerated out of all proportion. Turn the handle and the golden boat rides the mechanical waves, above the stormy clouds periodically reveal a shining bolt of lightning.

Laikingland is a creative label, based in both the UK and The Netherlands, who design and manufacture beautifully crafted kinetic objects that engage, and evoke a sense of play and nostalgia.
The company was founded in 2008 and is built upon a life long friendship between artist, Martin Smith and engineer, Nick Regan. Since it’s inception Laikingland has specialised in producing highly crafted limited editions, working closely with invited artists and designers to realise their kinetic ideas." Crazy!

Energy Flex House by Henning Larsen Architects

The Energy Flex House was designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with The Danish Technological Institute and Buro Happold Engineers.  The house built in Taastrup - Danmark - is a multiflexible R&D and demonstration building that was presented at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in 2009.
'The project will provide possibilities for testing energy efficient constructional solutions and components and comprises two test facilities (EFH Lab and EFH Family) and an office- and technical building (EFH Innovation).
EFH Lab is an uninhabited test facility examining the interplay of various floor types, outer walls and technical installations. EFH family is based on the same method of construction but will be occupied by test families. EFH Innovation will contain offices for the employees of the institute and a technical room where visitors can access research and data material from the project.'

Salviati - Venetian glass - with Jean-Michel Othoniel for Dior

Making the bottle in Murano, Italy

Jean-Michel Othoniel - the famous French sculptor -  was commissioned by LVMH group to create the new limited-edition bottle for Dior’s perfume, J’Adore for this holiday season.
Othoniel's design start from the original bottle, releasing the necklace. Each bottle is a handblown glass made by masters of Salviati - one of the historical glass factories on the island of Murano - Venice. The glass-bead top is embedded with specks of gold leaf and represents the universe. Only 300 pieces will be produced worldwide and each unique bottle has a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Japanese Green Tea Hibiki-an

TOKUSA Yunomi (handcrafted Teacup: 140ml)
"Hibiki-an is surrounded by the rolling hills of Uji, in the ancient city of Kyoto, where the Japanese tradition of green tea began over 1,000 years ago. Today, in Japan, when people think of high quality green tea, they think of Uji. The misty climate, sloping hills, warm days and cool nights provide an ideal setting for tea plants to thrive. If you take a train to Kyoto, you will pass many beautiful green tea farms in Uji, and you can sample the wide variety of delicious green teas that are available at specialty shops and restaurants in the area."

In the past, it was nearly impossible to distribute fresh green tea outside Japan, because it was more difficult to preserve than black tea or Chinese green tea. But now, it can be delivered anywhere in the world. More, online direct sales enable the farm to offer a lower price by eliminating the extra costs associated with wholesalers and distributors.

Japanese Green Tea Hibiki-an offers specially designed nylon bags with Japanese tea but also beautiful handmade teapots, cups (in the photos), bowls, sifters, canisters, and other accessories for tea. On the website, there is a part dedicated to history and culture named Japanese Tea Readings that's really worth reading!

OFUKU-san (handcrafted Teacup: pair)

"We named our site "Japanese Green Tea Hibiki-an" in wishing that Japanese tea culture will gain more popularity throughout the world. "Hibiki" in Japanese means "touching someone's heart." It brings us great happiness to know that Japanese tea culture can touch people's hearts around the world."
