Nino's Door

I can't say that it's an old typical Italian door, because in Italy this door is not old. Maybe we 'had' the habit of making things that last (this is happening less and less), but with an hand of painting, a wooden door survives centuries. The door of my house is there exactly from 1907, it's quite new!!

Pastiglie Leone - Absinthium

The Pastiglie Leone is  one of the oldest manufacturers in Italy, specializing in pastilles and candies from 1857, when Luigi Leone founded a small artisanal factory in the northern Italian town of Alba. After becoming famous for their quality (the Pastiglie Leone were the favorite of the Count Cavour), the production moved to Turin.
The Pastiglie Leone are still made using pure plant extracts, essential oils and natural coloring to produce an intensely flavored candy with a chalky texture. Coming in more than thirty flavors, such as anise, arquebuse, fernet, violet, they are packed  in small cardboard boxes wrapped in pastel colored paper that matches the color of the flavour and is printed with art deco graphics. I'm talking about the pocket sizes but there are also beautiful colored tins.
It's a lot of time that I was thinking of writing a post about the Pastiglie Leone - as one of my preferred Italian products - and when I saw the absinthe flavour packaging I thought the time was arrived!
The absinthe - assenzio in Italian - called also Green Fairy, reminds me the Poètes maudits and Paris and intrigued me immediately. It also inspired me this styling. I hope you like it!

Arne Jacobsen’s Tongue chair is back with Howe

Designed in 1955 for Munkegård School in Denmark, the Tongue is Arne Jacobsen’s second completed chair design – coming right after the Ant chair.

It was later placed in the rooms at the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, where it was also modified for use as a bar stool. Yet it wasn’t available internationally until the 1980s and even then only for a short while.

Now the Tongue is back and, restored by HOWE, it’s now produced in multiple finishes such as veneer, leather or fabric, together with legs in chrome or black and white powder-coated steel.

I adore the fabric - Divina MD - and its fancy palette:  light pink, mint blue, ochre, and sand!

"We just fell in love!
We admit it. We fell truly, madly, deeply in love with this chair. When the opportunity arose to take Arne Jacobsen’s Tongue chair under our wing at HOWE, we couldn’t resist. Does it sound crazy?
That’s fine. We’re happy to say that we’re more than a little mad about this delightful chair.

You see, the cutely named Tongue (AJ 3102) is a Danish design classic that went missing. Designed right after the Ant chair, the Tongue was always one of Arne Jacobsen’s favourites but never really found a home.
It’s a fascinating story and one that we’re happy to make sure has a happy ending."

Kew House by Sean Godsell, Australia

I saw the Kew House on tv (Roland Theron in Australia) and I was surprised from the simplicity and functionality of this project. Unfortunately I didn't find better photos, maybe the plan is the more explicative. The architect, Sean Godsell, designed this house for his family following the Japanese philosophy, using a platform and only modular pieces. The space is mainly divided from a central wall in a living (divisible from movable walls) and in a more privat side with two bedroom, an office and a bathroom (all closable with movable walls). The kitchen is at the end of the central wall, fronting one of the short sides where a long-long table stand against a corten steel wall - corten steel is the characterizing material of the building. The other short side has a wide view toward the city of Melbourne.

My cat is really in love with my new ballerinas.

I was so proud of my new ballerinas (bought in a super sale to ease my conscience) that I decided to style them before using. When I was ready to shoot, Bernard (my cat) decided to be the star and - if you know cats you know - I couldn't do otherways! Who's the prettiest, my cat or my new shoes? (Bernard says there's no doubt!)

Vegan Yard branding by David Arias

David Arias is an independent graphic design professional based in Vancouver, Canada. I love the branding, packaging and print work he did for Vegan Yarn.
Check other beautiful works in his portfolio here.

"Vegan Yarn -  like the name suggests - is a specialty yarn made from a variety of natural plant fibres such as: bamboo, soy and cotton. Heidi, the owner and founder of Vegan Yarn, hand-dyes the yarn with love in small batches, often creating limited yarn collections. Her colour dyeing technique is unique in that her inspiration for colours often derives from Japanese anime films. Vegan Yarn needed a way to present the product so that customers could pick up the yarn and really feel it without having unnecessary labels around to cover it. The design also needed to suggest natural and earth-friendly. Hang tags were created to easily appreciate the yarn without any obstructions. Items were printed on recycled paper. "
