At home with Fritz Hansen - Styled by Christine Rudolph | Milano 2015

A house that does not have one warm, comfy chair in it is soulness - May Sarton

Republic of Fritz Hansen has presented three fresh novelties in the showroom of via Garibaldi in Milan, during the design week : the new colours by Tal R for Series 7™ , and two new designs by Spanish designer Jaime Hayon.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Series 7™  chair -  designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955 -, Fritz Hansen asked the Danish artist Tal R - internationally celebrated for his profound sense of colour - to create a new range of colours for the famous chair. The nine new colours, complementing each other perfectly, will be available in stores from june 2015.

All the colours have one thing in common: They lie in between two colours and are constantly pulled in both directions; this gives the colours depth and the ability to conjure up mental images. To me, it’s important that every single colour has a story behind it that sparks associations. Therefore, each of the nine colours that I’ve chosen for the Series 7 chair has its own story and lets you see the chair in a new perspective’ - Tal R

Jaime Hayon designed two new chairs for Fritz Hansen, coinceved to create a cosy feel in any setting: the dining chair Sammen™ and the armchair Fri™. The two designs, combining a touch of Spanish playfulness with Danish minimalism and craftsmanship, start from the idea of working with the best materials while aiming for simplicity and maximum comfort and are a natural extension of the precedent collections by the Spanish designer.

Homes are fascinating. They are the settings for our lives and they often tell stories about who we are. In all homes, furniture plays an important role: It can be pieces we have selected and bought ourselves, and it can be pieces we have inherited or received as presents. Regardless of their origin, they tell a story about who we are. A home is well designed when it's personal and offers a welcoming and inviting space – when it has that indefinable quality we call hominess. The quality that makes a room pleasant to be in, as architecture and design come together to create a homey and relaxing atmosphere. It is a challenge to create a home that appears vivid, personal and having soul.
So, what makes a home? Good design surely helps.

I visited Fritz Hansen showroom also other times but I should say that this week the setting was really homely and more inspiring than ever (this is to justify all the following photos of Fritz Hansen iconic pieces that you maybe already know).
